As part of this year's The One Hundred, Bob will be honored at a dinner on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at the Westin Boston Waterfront. The Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center is an integral part of one of the world's most distinguished academic medical centers. Their commitment to eradicating cancer is fueled by scientific investigation conducted as part of the largest hospital-based research program in the United States.

What a great showing of support & friendship last night for the Tricky-Tray event at the Inn. On behalf of the Event Committee & Selena's Family, thank you to everyone who came out to support the cause & to those of you who donated your time, talents & treasure!

Last year the event raised over $6000. Based on our ticket sales & the amount of bidding, we expect to surpass last year's achievements! Money raised is donated to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure - which raises awareness of breast cancer and fund research and patient care. The Northeast Director of Susan G Komen for the Cure, Dolly Woody, was with us last night to express her appreciation to the crowd. In addition, Carol Spitzer, a local breast cancer survivor & advocate shared her story & progress. Selena's niece also shared her class project with us. She is astudent council representative in the Wallenpaupack Middle School. Haley developed an event which raised over $300 for Susan G Komen.

The night was emotional for most remembering Selena. The event was truthfully spear-headed by Selena's courage & determination to do something to fight cancer which lead to our first event last October. Selena inspired us all as she fought her own personal battle.

I think Selena was smiling down upon us last night as she saw all of her family, friends and co-workers coming together, committed to continue the fight.

Dates coming soon for next year's event!

The BK Invitational celebrated its 10th annual golf tournament on October 4th and 5th at Woodloch Springs in Hawley, Pa. It coincided with the creator of the tournament, Bob Kiesendahl, celebrating his tenth year cancer free following a life-saving bone marrow transplant after his diagnosis of an aggressive form of leukemia.

Over 260 golfers played at the two-day event and almost 300 people attended the banquet on Monday evening. The program featured guest speakers from the three beneficiaries of the funds raised. Dr. Thomas Loughran, Director of the newly constructed Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute, Michael Rubin from the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, a facility known worldwide for pioneering many cancer treatments & advancements & Chris Brewer, Development Communications & Special Projects Manager representing the Lance Armstrong Foundation, a 12 year cancer survivor himself, provided both information and inspiration from his personal experiences

Mother Nature gave us a lot of rain this year, but she could not dampen our spirit! The HC Ride combined the efforts of Baer Sports Center & Woodloch again this year in a fundraising event that benefitted the Lance Armstrong Foundation. Through pouring rain, 50 riders still showed along with many others who stopped in to drop off donations. The gathering at Fantasy Island was festive as usual even with lower #'s due to the weather.

Some of the award winners this year: Kirsti Longyour, Top Fundraiser with $945.00!! Youngest Rider, Jillian Helfrich age 11, Most "Mature" Rider, Howard Steeple, Largest Club, The Hamlin Hawgs, Farthers Rider, Frank from Dover, NJ! We are looking forward to next year's event - which will take place in August 2010 - date to be announced in the near future!
