BK Invitational Golf Tournament

The BK Invitational is our signature, annual fundraising event. The golf tournament takes place at Woodloch Springs Country Club in Hawley, PA. Family, friends and corporate sponsors join together for the event that includes, golf, Texas Hold em, live entertainment, awards, food & drink. Due to growing numbers over the years, we have grown to a 2-day event with two groups, one playing Sunday and another on Monday. A cocktail party, dinner & awards for all participants & sponsors completes the event Monday evening at the Inn at Woodloch. It an inspiring weekend that brings us all together to create hope for others affected by cancer.

What a showing again this year! We had 250 golfers, over 80 sponsors & almost 300 people who came out for the awards banquet and presentation! Althought the weather was not ideal, it did not dampen the spirit of the event. One of these years we will get some sunshine!

The "BK" was recognized as an official LIVESTRONG Day evnet again this year - the group shot of golfers was posted on the LAF website! We had strong represetnation from The Penn State Cancer Institute including Dr. Claxton who shared his appreciation for our support. Dr. Claxton oversees the Leukemia research we are funding at the PS Cancer Institute in Hershey, PA. We gave an update on the 2nd year of our pledge to immunotherapy research at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Seattle, WA which will culminate with a value of $100,000 being donated. Two local high school students, Jeremy Taninies & MIchelle Colletta, were recognized for their senior projects which raised funds for the BK Hope Cures Effort. And lastly, author/cancer survivor, Tami Boehmer presented her story & inspiration for her book, "From Incurable to Incredible". Bob's personal story of his battle with cancer & survivial is featured along with othes who defeated the odds.

Updates were also given regarding the beneficiaries of the tournament. The Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute has become a leading research & treatment facility not in PA but nation wide. The Tournament this was recognized as a LIVESTRONG Day Event - one of only 1200 through out the world! Bob & Joan also explained a new committeemen to groundbreaking research being done with immunotherapy at the Fred Hutchison Cancer Research Center in Seattle.

It was another emotional yet satisfying two day event that brings many together for a common cause - create hope for others impacted by cancer. "I admire and thank you all for coming together every year for this event. I enjoy the friendships, memories & the fact that we are helping make a difference in the battle against cancer."
